A cosy armchair sits in front of a wall covered in orange and white patterned wallpaper. A large houseplant with lush green leaves stands beside the chair.

As consumer interest in striped homewares surge, one wallpaper designer is putting a unique spin on the trend.

Using data from Pinterest, Fiona Howard Wallpapers found interest in ‘Striped Wallpaper’ has increased 30 per cent over the last month.

Fiona’s own take on traditional stripes is Sway – a vertical stripe with a 70s twist. It has an undulating pattern which oscillates as it climbs.

Fiona Howard, Founder of her eponymous wallpaper brand, said: “Stripes are the ultimate chameleon of design.

“They can be bold and graphic, or subtle and understated. Their versatility means they can elevate any space, from a minimalist modern home to a classic traditional interior.

“Sway allowed me to offer a more playful, graphic take showing a different side to the trend.”

Sway was designed to complement all interior schemes, from rustic country settings through to Mid-Century-inspired homes. Available in five colourways, Fiona has combined both bold, attention-grabbing shades with more subtle contrasts to ensure there is a version for all homes.

A complementary border, which turns the design into a horizontal pattern to help make spaces feel more elongated, is also available.

Sway is available now from Fiona Howard Wallpapers, priced at £144 per roll.
